notes: These are a
new state of the art relay that is much better than the original
thermal style units. Finally you'll have an even
and consistent
blink rate.
Terminal functions and wire applications: Terminal 31 - This is for the ground wire. As is
the case on all stock wiring set-ups in VWs, the ground wire is
always brown (solid). If your year does not have a ground to
this relay, you will need to add it. Terminal 49 - This is for the solid black wire that
terminates at the ignition side of the fuse box. This wire is
black (solid). Terminal 49A - This is for the wire coming form the turn
signal switch. This wire will usually be black with a green and
white stripe. The terminal is supplied with a double connector
to power the turn signal warning light located in the
speedometer. This wire is usually solid blue or blue with a
green stripe, depending on year.
This unit will not work on vehicles equipped with
the optional emergency flasher.
