notes:
Originally these timing
scales were plastic which worked fine but would become brittle
and crack from years of exposure to engine heat. But they were
cheap and plentiful so this shortcoming was easily overcome.
Then, VW discontinued them which left everyone high and dry!
Luckily a new reproduction is now available and it's made from
aluminum so it's unaffected by engine heat for years of service! |
