notes:
There were a few different
styles made of this retainer - rectangular ones were used on
most models through 1969 and a rounded version from 1970 on.
We've heard different reasons why they changed styles, a
plausible one is that it was a safety issue as the round
retainers were less likely to puncture the fuel tank in a wreck,
but we don't have any verification of this. Regardless, both
styles will fit all years. |
